Colossians 1:24-27 I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am participating in the sufferings of Christ that continue for his body, the church. God has given me the responsibility of serving his church by proclaiming his entire message to you. This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.
Ok – so maybe the “suffering” that Paul did and camp are a LITTLE different…but some would definitely consider smelly cabins, obnoxious kids (who also smell), camp food, ridiculous heat, all while getting no sleep to at least be labeled “uncomfortable.” So why do we do it? Because of the responsibility and the privilege that each one of us enjoy in sharing the good news. Yes it’s true that everyone in the picture above spent this past week with their child at camp, but I guarantee that they also poured their hearts and love out to many other children as well. And for those who think that it would be impossible for them to ever go to camp or serve in any other capacity, Paul gives us a great reminder in Colossians that Christ lives in you and gives you “assurance” to share His glory. Let me translate – none of us can serve Christ in our own power. Each of us must rely on the strength that he provides. Our verse for the week was 2 Peter 1:3 – God’s power has given us EVERYTHING that we need to live a Godly life…
What makes this week more special and completely fills our hearts is when we get to serve alongside those who we do life with. The encouragement, laughter, and fellowship that we enjoy as we serve is truly amazing. So what is God calling you to do? Do not miss out on the opportunities – invite those closest to you to join you in sharing His glory!
